To keep these cases &#8220;on track&#8221;, the court may appoint a Special Discovery Master.<\/p>\n<p>The Discovery Master resolves disputes with respect to document production, assertions of privilege, the timing, logistics, and sequence of depositions and any other discovery issues that may arise. A Discovery Master is often more readily available for a telephone conference, often on shorter notice, than most trial judges. When a live hearing is appropriate, it is almost always conducted more efficiently and informally than any other proceeding that occurs at the courthouse.<\/p>\n<p>The appointment of a Special Discovery Master often results in streamlining litigation.
